Flat relief or a
character in 3D?
Choosing a custom soft PVC keychain starts with what you want people to see: a graphic, a character—or a coordinated set.

Two shapes. Another way to combine them.
“2D” and “3D” describe the visual direction here, not a fixed production recipe. A flat keychain can still have raised and recessed details. A coordinated set can use either shape.
Flat-relief keychain
A graphic-led design with a relatively flat body and layered surface details. The mountain, wave and message examples show how outlines, lettering and colour areas can carry the design.
Consider for: logos, lettering and illustrated icons.Dimensional character
A character with a more sculpted appearance. The animal reference shows rounded forms; front, side and back views are needed to confirm whether the final design is fully three-dimensional.
Consider for: original mascots and character merchandise.Coordinated keychain set
A main piece combined with a strap, smaller charm and hardware. The jersey reference is a useful example of this arrangement. This is a way to assemble a product, not a third material or molding process.

There is no universal price order. Size, structure, colours, tooling, assembly, quantity and packaging all affect a quote. A complex flat design should not automatically be treated as cheaper than a simple dimensional one.
Look beyond the front view.
The colourful character and jersey references show why the complete assembly matters. Small details can be clear in a large picture yet harder to judge at the finished size.
- Mark the target width, height and thickness; send side/back views where needed.
- Separate the main character, strap, smaller charm and metal parts in the brief.
- Show colour references and identify details that must remain readable.
- Review a sample while hanging—not only lying flat. Check orientation and any overlapping parts.
- Confirm individual packing, set configuration and quantity per design before approving production.
Could the same idea be made in silicone?
Silicone can also be considered for this kind of product. Treat it as a separate material and manufacturing review, rather than a direct substitution. The structure, feel, colour application and tooling need to be checked against your design. A photograph alone cannot establish these details.
Before you request a sample
Does “2D” mean the surface is completely flat?
No. In this guide, it describes a relatively flat overall body. Raised outlines and recessed colour areas can still create surface relief. Specify the actual profile instead of relying on the label alone.
Can one photograph confirm a fully 3D keychain?
No. A front photograph may show a rounded front on a flatter back. Supply side and rear views, dimensions or a model to clarify the structure.
Can I combine a character, strap and small charm?
Yes, that is a design direction to discuss. Send each component and its connection point. Hardware availability, attachment strength and final assembly need review for the project.
What if my artwork is only a sketch?
Use the sketch to start a discussion and mark the details you have not decided. A quote and sample plan need agreed dimensions, structure, materials and quantities.
What are the minimum order and delivery time?
These depend on the design, tooling, quantity and packing. Send your requirements and target date for review; this guide does not promise a fixed minimum or turnaround.
